Our Vision
We exist to help people
encounter God and find encouragement for their lives.
Our Mission
Encounter God in Our Lives
As followers of
Jesus Christ, we believe that God invites every person to have a real
and personal relationship with Him. . . and that includes you!
This relationship begins when we put our faith in the person and work of
Jesus Christ. As God speaks to us, our personal relationship with
Christ is cultivated through prayer, Bible reading, worship, communion,
and service. Through this relationship, people encounter God and
find lives of fulfillment, meaning, and purpose. When we encounter
God we realize just how much He loves us.
God showed how
much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that
we might have eternal life through Him. This is real love—not that we
loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as a sacrifice to take
away our sins. 1 John 4: 9, 10 NLT
This means that
anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is
gone; a new life has begun. And all of this is a gift from God, who
brought us back to himself through Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:17, 18
NLT
For it is by grace
you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is
the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
NIV
Encourage Each
Other
As followers of Jesus Christ, we believe that
people need encouragement—encouragement in their homes, jobs,
friendships and their relationships with Jesus Christ. At West
Side, we encourage one another through times of worship, teaching,
serving, and friendships. Through this, we build a supportive and
meaningful community—a community that encourages people in every part of
their lives so that they may honor God, themselves, and their families.
No person can live life alone. We need each other.
I'm eager to
encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours.
In this way, each of us will be a blessing to the other. Romans 1:12 NLT
Express our Faith
As followers of Jesus Christ, we believe that we
are to express our faith. Expressing our faith is to love God and
love others. This is done by living by the teachings of Jesus,
joining a worshiping community, by using our talents in service to God
and others, and by telling others about what Jesus Christ has done in
our lives. Expressing our faith is the highest form of praise we
can give God.
They worshiped
together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord's Supper, and
shared their meals with great joy and generosity—all the while praising
God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the
Lord added to their group those who were being saved. Acts 2:46 |
